Review of Dark Lullaby by Mayra Calvani

Welcome to my Review of Dark Lullaby by Mayra Calvani
At a trendy Turkish tavern one Friday night, astrophysicist Gabriel Diaz meets a mysterious young woman. Captivated out of his senses by her physical perfection as well as her views on good and evil, he spends the next several days with her. After a while, however, he begins to notice a strangeness in her—her skin’s abnormally high temperature, her obsession with milk products, her child-like and bizarre behavior as she seems to take pleasure in toying with his conscience.

The young woman, Kamilah, invites him to Rize, Turkey, where she claims her family owns a cottage in the woods. In spite of his heavy workload and the disturbing visions and nightmares about his sister’s baby that is due to be born soon, Gabriel agrees to go with her.

But nothing, not even the stunning beauty of the Black Sea, can disguise the horror of her nature. In a place where death dwells and illusion and reality seem as one, Gabriel must now come to terms with his own demons in order to save his sister’s unborn child, and ultimately, his own soul.
My Review
This is the perfect time of year to read this novel with Halloween just around the corner.  It is dark and creepy story that combines paranormal and horror.

Expect to huddle on your couch in a blanket and still have chills. I have a whole new awareness of the dangers of going home from a bar with a stranger even it you are the man. Women can be quite dangerous too.  Men you have received fair warning.

Seacrest by Aaron Paul Lazar

Welcome to my review of "Seacrest" by Aaron Paul Lazar
Don't miss the Facebook Event

They say it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

Finn McGraw disagrees.

He was just seventeen when he had a torrid summer affair with the girl who stole his heart—and then inexplicably turned on him. Finn may have moved on with his life, but he’s never forgotten her.

Now, ten years later, he’s got more than his lost love to worry about. A horrific accident turns his life upside down, resurrecting the ghosts of his long-dead family and taking the lives of the few people he has left.

Finn always believed his estranged brother was responsible for the fire that killed their family—but an unexpected inheritance with a mystery attached throws everything he knows into doubt.

And on top of that, the beguiling daughter of his wealthy employer has secrets of her own. But the closer he gets, the harder she pushes him away.

The Seacrest is a story of intrigue and betrayal, of secrets and second chances—and above all, of a love that never dies.

My Review:
I adore Fin McGraw!! He is sweet, sexy, romantic,  thoughtful...I could go on and on.
Poor Fin and Sassy *her nick name* go through H E double hockey sticks to be together.
As I told Aaron, if a certain character in this book were still alive, I would have to kill that person!
I would tell you what that person’s name is but I want you to read the book and see for yourself.

This is a great contemporary romance and I hope you give it a read.

Cover Reveal "Dead Plains" by Angela Scott

Zombies in the Old West!!!!!!!  SWEET!!!!!!!!
Sometimes, the ones you least suspect are the ones that should worry you the most.

People aren't always what they seem, as Red has experienced all too well. Strangers are feared, towns are avoided, and everyone’s intentions are scrutinized… even those of the people closest to her. Her coveted ability has been revealed to far too many people, and now that a tiny heartbeat thumps and grows beneath her own, the risk has never been greater.

As the group of ten searches for a safe haven, a place to finally call home, the sobering reality of it all finally settles over them: nowhere is safe, nothing is permanent, and death is everywhere. One by one, Red’s reluctant posse grows smaller, as death claims some, and circumstance claims others.

It couldn't be a worse time to bring a newborn into the world… but the baby is coming.

BIO:
I hear voices. Tiny fictional people sit on my shoulders and whisper their stories in my ear. Instead of medicating myself, I decided to pick up a pen, write down everything those voices tell me, and turn it into a book. I’m not crazy. I’m an author. For the most part, I write contemporary Young Adult novels. However, through a writing exercise that spiraled out of control, I found myself writing about zombies terrorizing the Wild Wild West—and loving it. My zombies don’t sparkle, and they definitely don’t cuddle. At least, I wouldn’t suggest it.

I live on the benches of the beautiful Wasatch Mountains with two lovely children, one teenager, and a very patient husband. I graduated from Utah State University with a B.A. degree in English, not because of my love for the written word, but because it was the only major that didn’t require math. I can’t spell, and grammar is my arch nemesis. But they gave me the degree, and there are no take backs.

My Review:
I loved Wicked Sense, the first book in the Singularity Series and I could not wait to read book two. Fabio did not disappoint.  This edition is packed with action and intrigue. The story picks up mere days after book one ends.  Skye is still hiding Mona from the mothers and fighting against the dark witches. BUT the action and intensity in this book is a notch above book one. Some new characters are introduced and many of them did not earn a trustworthy badge in my opinion.
Without giving away the story I just have to say the Drake really disappointed me at the end of this book and I am not sure how he will redeem himself in book three.
All in all, this was an amazing sequel to Wicked Sense.

Welcome to my review of Ivory by F.M. Sherrill

As a child in the desert kingdom of Gryth, Ivory witnessed the brutal murder of her parents at the hands of a sinister race known as the Lecs.

Now Queen of her people, a vengeance-fueled Ivory launches a final battle to annihilate the enemy once and for all. But on the eve of war, betrayed by her own kind and left in the hands of the Lecs, she's forced to learn the shocking truth about their two peoples, and the diabolical curse that's plagued them for centuries.

Armed with newfound knowledge and unexpected allies, Ivory must face the real enemy that's haunted her all her life, and make a choice that will mean the difference between a new beginning and the end of the world.

Ivory is an exercise in duality made reality; an exploration of darkness and light, male and female, sun and moon… seen through the eyes of two cultures ripped apart by an ancient evil whose pain resonates through the ages like the beating of a drum.

MY REVIEW
Ivory is a perfect blend of Sci-Fi, suspense, and action.  So intense that I could not put it down as I wondered what would happen next. F.M. Sherrill is so descriptive and creates such in-depth characters.  I am left breathless.  Wow…just Wow

Aren't author's bios boring? I always wanted to read one that went something like this:
F.M. Sherrill: recent citizen of earth. Plans on ruling the planet once she gets over the common cold. Or, F.M. Sherrill: time traveler. Decided to alter the space-time continuum by writing a novel, thus changing history slightly, which will eventually lead to the rise of a new human species.
But here it is. F.M. Sherrill is a novelist, A.K.A. an avid bullshitter; that's why she lives in L.A.. She's been writing for as long as her ancient mind can remember, devouring tales like an anemic vampire roaming the streets in hot pink heels, always thirsty for more. When she's not writing, she's making steampunk weapons, sewing giant plant-eater Mario plushes, making costumes for some film bloke or cosplayer, and sculpting/casting movie prop replicas while gardening in her urban apartment. Her favorite tools? A soldering iron, a blowtorch, a band saw, a sonic screwdriver, a replicator and an active imagination.
